CURRENT INFO
Tilly lives in Queens, works two jobs, and performs drag four to five nights a week -- something he's been doing for nearly six years. This is on top of his recent discovery thanks to Calisto Bautista - an invested local-politician-slash-magic-user - coming to a show one night, that he is innately capable of magic and often taps into his particular area of aptitude - glamour and illusion - in both performance and daily life without even realizing it.
Now Tilly is catching up on years of magic skills with Calisto, dealing with small magical flare-ups as they happen, performing and working on his craft with the same passion as always - though perhaps with a bit more je ne sais quoi than before - and just trying to continue to stay afloat as well as he can while he starts figuring out how to fit magic, a gift he's honestly a little afraid of, into his life.
PERSONALITY
Even with his relatively deadpan exterior, Tilly is a presence. He adores attention, and loves to tease. He can be surprisingly sweet, and he can be a flirt, though he's not always as smooth as he thinks he is — he just rolls with it, though.
He's not very in touch with his own feelings; he knows from experience how much the version of himself in his own head is in conflict with what he puts across to other people (he's been told many times how unfriendly and unapproachable he seems in most situations, at least before someone gets talking with him) and that's part of why he turns to drag, apart from wanting to perform and express himself through his art — he knows exactly what he's going to put on the stage every night, and what people are going to see. He takes that unfriendly air and turns it up so high that it becomes fun, and in return it's helped him feel better about navigating everyday life.
Though Tilly oozes confidence, he has insecurities that he buries in staying busy, often to his own detriment. He was a different person before New York, and though he charges ahead every day without letting himself stop and worry over every little thing, he has his moments. He avoids these moments as much as possible, but sometimes they can't be helped; sometimes things quiet down, sometimes he's lonely, sometimes he cares about someone and he can't help but reflect on the person he is, and whether that's a person he's actually proud of.
Tilly always seems to be juggling old habits with actively trying to be better. Inclined to pettiness, and with a competitive streak a mile wide, he's burned a few bridges in his time, and learned the hard way how unsustainable that is. He's judgemental and quick to lash out if a perceived blow is coming. He says a lot of things that he thinks are harmless teasing, but just come across as mean or overly harsh.
